She brings gifts to the fairies in the woods behind her parents’ home. She paints her face and stands alone on the road with a Black Lives Matter sign. She smears fake blood on her body and twirls in the park.
She has always known that she is different. That she attracts the stares of strangers. She accepts that.
Some people may find her lifestyle unorthodox. But Harris finds empowerment in her actions. Her unbridled expression is her way of liberating herself, of coping with the trauma and abuse of her past.
