“In 2020, the pandemic disrupted and raised havoc for so many individuals. However, what a lot of people don’t know is that sex trafficking cases increased shockingly. And it not only caused cases to rise but also caused situations to worsen to unimaginable lengths.
I was nauseatingly upset when uncovering this information in 2020, and I couldn’t just sit with it. I felt an ache to help this cause in any way I could. So in the summer of 2020, I started ‘Dye for a Cause.’ I would tie-dye sweatshirts and hoodies and sell them to my Instagram followers and friends and donate 50% of the proceeds to Glory House of Miami.
After dying each hoodie, Perdomo organized beads on the drawstrings to spell the words “break “ and “chains.”
Glory House of Miami is a sex trafficking rehabilitation and counseling center for women survivors in the Miami/South Florida community. The powerhouse women behind Glory House, after hearing about my business and fundraising, reached out to me and told me they wanted to work more closely with me and really bring me into their family. I was so incredibly touched and moved.
While also continuing Dye for a Cause and raising over $3,000 for the organization, they also asked if I would help them with mentoring and volunteer work. Through Glory House, I was able to connect and mentor a young girl whose mother was a resident of Glory House.
I will never forget this experience and the endless love I felt from everyone around me. From my customers, followers and friends who joined my mission and purchased tie-dyed pieces, to the women at Glory House, and finally, to my young mentee, I will forever stand on the side of hope and faith for this cause.
I believe and pray we will one day see an end to this world’s suffering. I hope that through my own experience, people will join me in the fight to give voices back to those that have been silenced for far too long. Let them no longer be silenced.”
