Avin Posen, 33, is a hairstylist who found their calling in providing gender-affirming haircuts in a state where gender-affirming healthcare is constantly under attack.

At the Goldenrod Parlor in Gainesville, Avin is surrounded by the sound of snipping scissors and hair dryers as they do what they can to make their customers feel safe and comfortable. The haircut is the customer’s choice and Avin’s mission.

A haircut can make or break someone’s day. Avin makes sure every queer or transgender customer leaves the salon feeling like they belong in their skin.
